Freda lives with her mother, sister and younger brother in a working-class district of Haiti. They survive with their little street shop. Faced with the precariousness and violence of their daily lives, each of them looks for a way to escape the situation. Even if it means giving up her own happiness, Freda decides to believe in the future of her country.
‘Freda is the kind of cinematic experience that I enjoy most: a journey into a way of life that I shouldn’t have access to, and which sheds light on the people who really live there.
who really live there. Gessica Généus’s film is an unforgettable gem, told with simple eloquence, wonderfully memorable performances, and an authentic feeling that few films manage to achieve. […] I am humbled to be the executive producer of Freda, in support of Gessica and Haiti’s wonderfully creative and artistic film community.’
